Also see effects of omega-3 fatty acids on lipids and glycemic control [Top] Webpage new at the DiabetesMonitor 21Mar2005 Pieces of the Puzzle: Fitting Omega-3 Fatty Acids into Triglyceride TherapyRelease Date: December 19, 2005 Expiration Date: December 19, 2007TARGET AUDIENCE This activity is designed for pharmacists, nurses, dietitians, and other healthcare professionals who lupron educate patients with type 2 diabetes.STATEMENT OF NEED Epidemiologic and interventional studies have found hypertriglyceridemia to be a risk factor for coronary heart disease lupron particularly in patients who have low HDL cholesterol (HDL-c) levels and/or elevated lupron LDL cholesterol (LDL-c) levels. While this disorder may occur in the absence of other co-morbid disorders, it is frequently seen in patients who have diabetes, other cardiovascular diseases, and obesity. Fatty acids have also been shown to have an influence on serum lipids. Evidence from epidemiologic and clinical secondary prevention trials suggests that the omega-3 polyunsaturated fatty acids (n-3 PUFAs), particularly eicosapentanoic acid, EPA, and docosahexaenoic acid, DHA, may have a significant role in the prevention of coronary heart disease.
